Start a blog thought I. Share the nerdy narrowboat stuff online and then people can choose to read it or not. Save the poor folk I work with from listening to me drone on about the boat and how much I love her. A blog will allow me to witter on whenever I want about what I want and not inflict myself on others (apart from those of you daft enough to be following me, but if you are reading this then you clearly consented 🤣)
The internet said it was easy. Start writing it said, using one of these great apps. Easily publish your content, share it on social media. You can install widgets to your hearts content (??? What’s a widget). Earn millions in 3 minutes a week, just follow these 874 easy steps.
Well. It has been an interesting journey so far, I choose wordpress as the base for my blog, seemed easy enough and it actually was. I ‘built’ my site using the wordpress app and wrote a few bits which I then published with pictures! I was really enjoying myself until I tried to link the blog to my facebook and instagram. Oddly, I had no problem linking to twitter, an app I rarely use and definitely don’t understand, but it doesn’t matter because other people do and if I’m lucky they might follow me.
Facebook would not link because wordpress can only link to a page. Well, I have a page, it’s Clara Belle and I’ve had it for ages. Years in fact. I post stuff and comment and like and allsorts. Took me a week (ish, I worked it out today) that it means a separate page, like a stall front where I can set myself up and have a title and everything. How exciting, my facebook page is a Personal Blog page. It’s official, I’m a blogger!!!
As for instagram, I set up a linked profile after Erin’s boyfriend told me how. Lucky, despite growing up with a vaguely neglectful mother, the child still talks to me and so is currently my blog guru, listener and provider of random technical advice. She also gives me writing advice which I generally ignore, so all mistakes are solely mine.
So, please like my blogs on wordpress, or like my page on fb or follow me on insta and, as always, feel free to comment
