To boat or not to boat – well the answer was always to boat whatever the weather! I grew up narrowboating with family and was keen to inflict these lovely experiences onto my own daughters and (he says, fantastic) partner. We hired lots of different sized narrowboats over various school holidays and throughly enjoyed bobbing around on the canals in the wind, snow, hail and, sometimes, if we were very lucky, the sunshine.
Our most recent hire boats were from Heart of England canal boat holidays based in Tamworth on Dawn Mist, I would recommend them 😊 https://hoen.co.uk/
We had always planned to buy a boat to enjoy in our retirement, then the pandemic happened. As you can imagine, we experienced the pandemic from inside the NHS and this triggered a re-evaluation of our current lifestyle and future plans. Watching families loose loved ones who were young and old and thinking of the limited time we have to spend together as a family gave us pause – we resolved to enjoy family time and to appreciate it for the precious commodity that it is. And with this, the decision was made.
