By some minor miracle, Keith and I managed to be off work at the same time – clearly this was the time to move the boat from Norbury Wharf to her moorings in Willington.
The plan was simple – pick up keys, get on boat, clean boat, stash food/wine/clothes, be off on our travels. So with empty pockets and joy in Keith’s heart we managed to do everything except be off on our travels. Why? Ah, Keith managed to lose his car keys. Which had the waterways key on them. And were needed to hop the cars down the midlands as we moved south.
After a frantic couple of hours and no small amount of swearing, bickering and laying blame we decided that Keith could use my car to come home and collect the spare keys. For those of you who know us, I never let anyone else drive my car. She is clean and lovely and cared for, unlike Keith’s car which has a new species of fungus growing in the boot and is not loved or cleaned or cared for… I decided to be a big girl and let Keith and the youngest daughter take my car while Erin and I started to move the boat towards Wheaton Aston.
It was a dreary overcast day but we started out, with the wonderboom on the roof to share our excellent music with the wildlife and, despite having to allow Keith to drive my car, a big ginormous smile on my face 🤗
About an hour later, happily bobbing down the cut, Erin put her coat on. Despite normal habits of a lifetime, she put the hood up. Due to the rain you see, it doesn’t sit well with the hair dye. And the keys fell out of her hood.

Starting to fill the boat with our junk before leaving Norbury Wharf
Excellent darling excellent
Careful love or you will lose your keys not loose them!!
